Help Wanted!

Ooh La La, are you enjoying this lovely weather today? It is supposed to get down to 58 tonight! It was so nice and cool this morning. Did you take your dog for a walk? I did!

Do you love dogs? I love dogs! I am definitely a dog person. Do you live in the Williston, Florida area? We need your help.

How can you help Williston Animal Group? I am so glad you asked. Keep reading to learn more.

  1. The most obvious way to help WAG is to adopt one of our wonderful dogs.
  2. Volunteer at WAG. Our dog rescue is completely run by volunteers. We have no paid staff. We do have a Board of Directors, but it is all volunteer. We are always in need of volunteers. The kennel runs smoothest when there are 3 volunteers on each shift, but we only require 2 adults per shift. Our volunteer manager is very good at pairing up teams. So, for example, you can not handle the dogs, or don’t want to, you would be assigned to feeding, and cleaning the kennels while the other volunteer handles the dogs. Maybe you don’t want to clean, so you could be assigned to just handle dogs. You do have to be at least 16 years of age to volunteer at WAG. I homeschool my daughter, and I bring her and a friend each week. They get volunteer hours and have fun too! Any organization needs a wide range of individuals with different skills, and ages to help make the organization run well. Won’t you consider volunteering? We have a morning shift, and a PM shift.

Ok, so maybe you can’t adopt a dog, and right now is not a good time to volunteer. How else can you help WAG?

  1. Money. Let’s not mince words, it takes money to run a rescue, and donors are the main way that rescues get money. WAG is a 501c3 charity and all donations are tax deductible on your taxes. There are several ways you can donate money to WAG. If you visit our Facebook page, and click the learn more info button at the top, it will take you to a Paypal page where you can donate.
  2. You can send money directly to us via Paypal via the address willistonanimalgroup.gmail.com
  3. You could send us a check directly to Williston Animal Group PO Box 752, Williston, Florida 32696. Make sure you make the check payable to Williston Animal Group.
  4. If you are a business in the area you can sponsor dogs for adoption. There are some neat perks to doing this. One, you get to help a rescue dog. Two, we will name a dog after your business, or another name you choose. Three, you will get a shout out and free publicity on this blog.

Alright, you don’t like to give money. How else can you help? I am so glad you asked.

  1. Do you use Amazon to buy stuff? There is another Amazon! What! Yep. If you type Amazon Smile into your browser it will take you to the charity Amazon. You do have to select your charity first. If you need help doing this, please leave me a comment and I will walk you through it. It is under your settings options. Once you have chosen your charity, which is Williston Animal Group Inc, in this case, you just shop and a small portion of the amount you pay will go to WAG. It isn’t a lot, but it adds up over time. Every little bit helps, trust me. Just be sure you are always on the Amazon Smile option, not regular Amazon or the money doesn’t go to charity.
  2. I love Chewy! Do you use Chewy? It is a convenient way to get dog food, and other items, delivered right to your house. Especially if you don’t want to carry heavy bags of dog food from the store to your car. Chewy offers a give back option, where you can find a charity and then send them items on their wish list. WAG has a wish list. One of the options is a gift card. So, if you don’t like to give money, you can purchase a gift card for WAG. You can visit WAG’s Chewy Wish List, here.
  3. Follow this blog, share it with friends, promote it on social media. This helps us get noticed. Did you know a lot of people didn’t even know there was a dog rescue in Williston, Florida? It is a true story. Like my posts, it helps in Google ranking for more exposure.
  4. Come to our adoption events to meet our dogs and show us some love! We have one coming up this weekend. Read about it here.
  5. Follow us on Facebook, link above. It helps us get noticed in Facebook’s algorithm which increases our exposure.

As you can see there are many ways you can help WAG. We so appreciate our volunteers, adopters, and donors. WAG could not survive without you.

Williston Animal Group is a dog rescue in Williston, Florida. We rescue dogs from Levy County Animal Shelter, and the city of Williston shelter. These dogs are often abandoned, and or mistreated. Our volunteers work hard to help them become good family pets, and learn basic skills like leash walking, socialization, and basic dog commands. You can contact WAG at 352-528-9888, or you can email us at info@willistonanimalgroup.com

Getting a dog to take pictures that include props, especially a rescue dog who maybe has had no training at all, can be tricky. Our models for today’s post, are Molly, Zeke who has not been featured yet on the blog but you can visit his Petfinder page until I get one up, and Scarlett.
